Sean’s Breaking Boundaries Experience:
Sean was able to accomplish many things in his young life that many adults, let alone children with Down Syndrome, never have. His unique path was enabled by learning about new possibilities from IAHP.org, adopting a no-limits attitude, absolute dedication and hard work, and support from an amazing community of friends and family. Initiatives:
Through hard work and great support, Sean overcame many physical, intellectual, social, and physiological factors. Sean’s Path wants to shine a bright light on the partners who helped enable this and provide programming to spur more hope and unlimited possibility.
-
- Resources of Hope: Sean’s family benefitted immensely from a variety of educational resources that enlarged their possibilities for Sean’s life and provided a roadmap to do so. Sean’s Path provides educational books and materials for hospitals and healthcare providers to provide to families of brain-injured children.
- Care for Caregivers: Caregivers for people with special needs need extra care for themselves. While most feel called and privileged for this unique responsibility, they all also need extra support. Sean’s Path provides awareness and resources to support these very special people.
- The Playdate Project: For most young families, a gap exists between being aware of a child’s special needs and knowing how to engage with them. There may be trepidation, a feeling of awkwardness, or even a sense of burden vs understanding the potential for the relationship to change your family’s life and change another’s life. Sean’s Path closes that gap with resources and workshops to inspire the inclusion of special needs kids in everyday activities, such as playdates, Birthday Parties, and celebrations. Here is a guide to help you get started in organizing one playdate that will change two lives. This helps other families to feel more comfortable and to be empowered to break-down boundaries.
Organizations We Support:
IAHP Education: This organization was instrumental in guiding Sean’s physical and intellectual programming. You can learn about Sean’s experience and success with IAHP.org here. Sean’s Path provides funds to ease the financial burden for families with brain-injured children (e.g. Down’s Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy) who receive services and education from The Institutes for The Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP.org). We also create awareness for IAHP via health provider outreach, and distribution of IAHP educational and promotional materials.
