What We Do

While Sean’s life on earth was unexpectedly curtailed, his impact was not.  In fact, he continues to spread ripples of goodness each day.  Now, Sean’s Path will help turn those ripples into waves.

Sean’s Path serves two purposes:

  • Supporting organizations that fueled Sean’s amazing journey while on earth…to enable them to spread their impact to others.
  • Creating initiatives and activities that lift and inspire humanity in the unique ways that Sean did.

And we do this in the 3 distinct areas that define Sean’s life:

Faith

Faith

Sean’s Faith Experience:

Sean was a deeply faithful young man.  His Catholic Faith was at the center of his life and it was evident in his enthusiasm and reverence.  He also encouraged the community around him, bringing others closer to God, and planting seeds of faith along the way.

Initiatives:

Sean’s inspiration can move all of us along a path that is closer to God.  Sean’s Path aims to lift humanity with a number of initiatives to help honor, nurture and spread Sean’s love of faith:

    • Play Mass Kits: Sean loved to play Mass with his friends using his homemade play Mass Kit.  Sean’s Path will make these kits available to parishes whose families will make good use of them.
    • Catholic Family Games: Sean loved to play games. Sean’s Path will provide parishes with access to discounted or donated Catholic Family Games.
    • Family Rosary Playbook: Sean loved attending family rosary events hosted by our community of friends.  Sean’s Path will create and share a “Playbook” to encourage other families to organize these faith-filled and community-building events.
    • Random Acts of Christianity: Sean’s Path will, from time to time, organize random acts of generosity towards others like a “reverse boot drive” where instead of collecting monies from passing cars via a boot like firemen often do, we will give items away to children in passing cars as a special treat, spreading the message of Christian love and generosity that defines Sean.

Organizations We Support:

Holy Family Fest: A weeklong Catholic family summer camp vacation at Catholic Familyland enabling families to play together and pray together.  Sean treasured his experience there. Our aim is to provide scholarships to families who might otherwise not be able to attend due to financial constraints.

Breaking Boundaries

Sean’s Breaking Boundaries Experience:

Sean was able to accomplish many things in his young life that many adults, let alone children with Down Syndrome, never have.  His unique path was enabled by learning about new possibilities from IAHP.org, adopting a no-limits attitude, absolute dedication and hard work, and support from an amazing community of friends and family. Initiatives:

Through hard work and great support, Sean overcame many physical, intellectual, social, and physiological factors. Sean’s Path wants to shine a bright light on the partners who helped enable this and provide programming to spur more hope and unlimited possibility.

    • Resources of Hope: Sean’s family benefitted immensely from a variety of educational resources that enlarged their possibilities for Sean’s life and provided a roadmap to do so.  Sean’s Path provides educational books and materials for hospitals and healthcare providers to provide to families of brain-injured children.
    • Care for Caregivers: Caregivers for people with special needs need extra care for themselves.  While most feel called and privileged for this unique responsibility, they all also need extra support.  Sean’s Path provides awareness and resources to support these very special people.
    • The Playdate Project: For most young families, a gap exists between being aware of a child’s special needs and knowing how to engage with them. There may be trepidation, a feeling of awkwardness, or even a sense of burden vs understanding the potential for the relationship to change your family’s life and change another’s life. Sean’s Path closes that gap with resources and workshops to inspire the inclusion of special needs kids in everyday activities, such as playdates, Birthday Parties, and celebrations.  Here is a guide to help you get started in organizing one playdate that will change two lives. This helps other families to feel more comfortable and to be empowered to break-down boundaries.

Organizations We Support:

IAHP Education: This organization was instrumental in guiding Sean’s physical and intellectual programming.  You can learn about Sean’s experience and success with IAHP.org here.  Sean’s Path provides funds to ease the financial burden for families with brain-injured children (e.g. Down’s Syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy) who receive services and education from The Institutes for The Achievement of Human Potential (IAHP.org).  We also create awareness for IAHP via health provider outreach, and distribution of IAHP educational and promotional materials.
